Written by Marcie R. Rendon, an award winning author & enrolled member of the White Earth Nation, Sweet Revenge is a true crime comedy. The play follows Maggie, a middle-age Native woman working to make ends meet with her two grandchildren in their inner-city apartment. Living alongside them is Granny Josephine, who is tormented by memories of growing up in an American Indian boarding school. Meanwhile, a serial killer is targeting ice cream truck drivers in the neighborhood bringing John, the homicide detective, into Maggie’s life.
The world premiere of Sweet Revenge is co-produced by Mni Giizhik Theatre Ensemble & Exposed Brick Theatre. The play is directed by Sequoia Hauck (White Earth Anishinaabe & Hupa) and assistant directed by Samuel Osborne-Huerta.
Performances are October 9 - 17, 2026 at Red Eye Theater, 2213 Snelling Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
Sweet Revenge run time is 90 minutes no intermission.

Joyce (White Earth), Chetan Ohitika-Thomas Draskovic (Hunkphapa Laƙóta/Waĥpe Khúte Dakóta), Oogie_Push (Meskwaki), Fern Renville (Enrolled citizen of Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate), and Jaida Rogers (Red Lake band of Chippewa Indians).

Content Warning: This production contains frequent explicit language.
